Run an Event

If you would like to run an event for the Audacious Women Festival, please read these guidelines before submitting a proposal.

Event leaders

Any woman (or organisation)  who supports our aims can propose an event. All event leaders must be female.

Type of events

Workshops, conversations, exhibitions, walks, sports and physical activity taster sessions, films and performances are core to the Festival but we are open to any type of event that meets these guidelines.

We welcome proposals for:

  • Participative events (both online and in person) that challenge women to be audacious, for example by offering a new experience or skill, enhance existing skills, stimulate a discussion and/or give women the courage to carry out their own audacious act.
  • Events that showcase the work of audacious women such as theatre, music, films and exhibitions.·

Audience

All workshops, conversations, sports, physical activity and other participative events are single sex, women only.

Non-participative events are generally open to all. These might include performances, films or exhibitions which celebrate and show the herstory of audacious women breaking barriers and flaunting conventions.

Additional information is available on our FAQs page.

Duration

The key consideration is how long is needed for an effective event. Typically, our workshops last about two hours and conversations an hour, while the length of outdoor events, sports and performances is more variable.  However, the length of an event is not a barrier to inclusion and you may propose any duration you think is appropriate.

Venue

We will normally provide the venue or online platform unless a specific location is needed.

Equipment and materials

We can only provide very limited sound and visual equipment, so you should provide any specialist equipment or materials required.

Please note on the proposal form any additional amount for materials or equipment that needs to be included in your fee. Participants will be charged an extra amount to cover materials.

Contact us to discuss if you have any questions.

Deadline for applications

Mid-October each year. This year’s date is shown on the proposal form.

What happens next?

The Audacious Women Collective considers all proposals and decides which events to include in our programme. As well as the relevance and quality of each proposal our decision will take into account the balance of events in the programme and our overall capacity.

We will let you know by mid November if we would like to include your event in the programme. We will confirm your fee and ticket prices for the event and agree a date, time and venue with you.

Publicity and Marketing

We publicise the festival and individual events as widely as possible through our usual channels.

We also expect event leaders to promote their own event and the Festival as a whole.
